Virgin Atlantic is now offering top-tier members with other carriers' rewards programs an opportunity to join Virgin Atlantic's own loyalty club. Passengers who meet certain criteria can easily register for the status match online before 23 June, allowing them access to Gold or Silver status with Virgin Atlantic.

The offer is available to members with top or second-tier status in frequent flyer programs of the following airlines: British Airways, American Airlines, United Airlines, Emirates, Etihad, Jet Airways, Cathay Pacific, and South African Airways. Customers with top-tier status will receive matching Gold status with Virgin Atlantic's Flying Club, while second-tier members are set to gain Silver status.

Gold status offers a number of rewards, including free seating choice, priority boarding, two carry-on bags, two checked bags, a 60 percent mileage bonus, and access to Virgin Atlantic's Clubhouse and Revivals lounges. Silver status with Virgin Atlantic grants a 30 percent mileage bonus, premium check-in, and seat selection up to two weeks before Economy flights.

Registration with the program is simple. Gold members must have a flight booked in either Premium Economy or First Class, while any cabin is acceptable for Silver members. Both Gold and Silver members must submit proof of their qualifying status with one of the aforementioned airlines, as well as a statement demonstrating they fly often enough to maintain their current status.

If validated, the new status with Virgin Atlantic remains in effect for one year from its start date. To keep the status past that date, passenger must earn enough tier points; specifically, Gold members need to earn 1000, while Silver passengers require 400. That shouldn't be a problem for frequent flyers. Overall, the new program looks poised to draw more passengers to Virgin Atlantic.
