Have a bad credit score or don't have any credit history, and are looking for a credit card? The Platinum Zero Secured Visa Credit Card from Applied Bank is a secured credit card for people with bad credit or no credit who want to enjoy a 0% fixed APR on purchases. However, there is a catch! Read on to find out what it is.
Here I will do a detailed review of the Platinum Zero Secured Visa Credit Card from Applied Bank, one of the many credit cards for bad credit in the US, and tell you what you should be aware of!
Things We Like About This Card
0% fixed APR on purchases. This is one of the best features of this card. You will have 0% fixed interest rate for purchases and even if you are late with your payments, the rate won't change. Note that this is not an introductory APR.
Low fixed APR of 9.99% for cash advances. You will have a low fixed APR of only 9.99% for cash advances if you don't repay in full what you withdraw from the ATM.
Choose your credit limit. This card offers you the choice of choosing your credit limit from $500 to $5,000. As this is a secured credit card, you will need to put a deposit equal to the credit limit you choose. So if you put $500 as a deposit, your credit limit will be $500, or if you put $5,000 as a deposit, your credit limit will be $5,000.
Your deposit account is FDIC insured. FDIC stands for Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. In this case, since Applied Bank is FDIC insured, even if it fails or declares bankruptcy, you can still get back the money that you put as a deposit as that is insured by the US government.
This card reports timely to credit bureaus. This is an advantage to you since it means that if you have been diligent in paying on time and not going over your credit limit, your credit score will start increasing and you can later enjoy the advantages of having a better credit score.
Free personal identity theft protection. So that you feel more secure, this credit card offers you personal ID theft protection.
No application or account set-up fees. You don't have to pay anything to apply to this card.
$0 fraud liability. If there are any unauthorized transactions on your card, you won't have to pay anything for them.
This credit card is accepted in most places worldwide. Even though you may be using this credit card to improve your credit score or simply using it because you can't qualify for other credit cards, you will still be able to take advantage of the fact that it is an actual Visa (V) credit card which you can use almost anywhere worldwide where Visa is accepted. So this comes in handy when you want to secure a car rental or hotel reservation, or use it in shops and restaurants.
Our Least Favorite Things About This Card
Very high monthly maintenance fee. You will have to pay a monthly fee of $9.95, which is, in other words, an annual fee of $119.40. This is a very high annual/monthly fee to pay just so you can use the card!
The Platinum Zero Secured Visa Credit Card from Applied Bank is designed for people who have bad credit or no credit, and since it reports your card activity to credit rating agencies, it helps build your credit history. This card lets you enjoy a 0% fixed APR on purchases and a relatively low 9.99% fixed APR on cash advances, which could be useful if you plan on buying something and then paying it back over a period of time. What we dislike the most about this card is that it comes with a very high monthly maintenance fee which amounts to $119.40 annually!
