US Airways Premier World MasterCard is the official credit card of US Airways (LCC), and it is issued by Barclaycard, which is well-known for its excellent customer service and long promotional balance transfer introductory periods.
I recommend this US Airways Dividend Miles card to those of you who like flying on US Airways and want to receive companion tickets, as well as earn more rewards on your everyday spending.
In this review of the US Airways Premier World MasterCard, I will highlight its pros and cons so that you can have a better idea of it before you get the card.
Things We Like About This Card
Limited time offer: Earn up to 50,000 bonus miles. You can earn 50,000 miles after making your first purchase with your new credit card and paying the $89 annual fee, as long as your purchase isn't returned or your transfer rescinded. These 50,000 bonus miles can get you an award ticket to Hawaii and may be enough for an award ticket to the Caribbean. You can redeem your miles for free air tickets, upgrades, and more.
Enjoy 0% intro APR on balance transfers for 15 months. During the first 15 months you will enjoy 0% introductory APR (on balance transfers made within the first 45 days of account opening). Your APR will be variable between 15.99%-24.99% thereafter.
Earn 2 miles for each dollar spent on US Airways. If you travel often on US Airways or American Airlines, this will be a good card for you as you'll earn double miles for each dollar you spend on purchases from these airlines.
Earn 1 mile for every dollar you spend on other purchases. None of your purchases will go unrewarded as you will earn 1 mile everywhere for each dollar you spend.
Flights can be redeemed with a 5,000 mile discount. When you want to use your miles to redeem an award ticket, you will get a 5,000 mile discount. For example, if it takes 25,000 miles to redeem a ticket, you will only need 20,000 miles to redeem that ticket.
Companion certificate good for up to 2 guests. You get a companion certificate that's good for up to 2 companions to travel with you for just $99 each (plus taxes and fees) on a US Airways operated flight. Keep in mind that these companion tickets start at $99 plus taxes and fees, and that you can only use it for travel when you buy an air ticket that costs at least $250.
First checked bag free. You and up to four companions travelling on domestic US Airways operated flights will get your first checked eligible bag free.
First class check-in. Avoid waiting in long lines to check in when paying for your flight with this card as you will enjoy first class check-in on all US Airways flights no matter where you're flying.
Enjoy Zone 2 priority boarding every time you pay for your US Airways flight with this card, which will save you time waiting in long lines to board the plane.
Enjoy a complimentary day pass to the US Airways Club. This gives you a chance to relax in a peaceful environment before you board your flight.
Save on in-flight purchases. When you use this card to make eligible US Airways and American Airlines in-flight purchases, you enjoy 25% savings.
Our Least Favorite Things About This Card
$89 annual fee. To enjoy the benefits of this card, you will have to pay an annual fee of $89 each year.
This card is great for those of you who like travelling on US Airways and who plan to make a purchase (after paying the $89 annual fee) within the first 3 months of opening the account, as you will be able to get the maximum bonus of 50,000 miles (limited time offer) as a new cardholder.
The large signing bonus you get with this US Airways Premier World MasterCard will get you off to a good start on US Airways, and the complimentary US Airways Club pass and two $99 companion tickets more than outweigh the $89 annual fee that you'll have to pay.
If you like flying on this airline and want to earn additional miles for your spending and the balances you transfer, this is the card for you.
