I think Netflix is one of the very best options for in home entertainment but considering the amount of time it takes to get a new release these days or even get them online for streaming it's becoming a pain. I think Redbox and the Blockbuster kiosks are extremely helpful and I find them everywhere. You can get movies and games. Very easy.
As netflix raises their prices even though they never have the newest stuff out and keeps the same movies.... we cancelled our account and decided to use REDBOX. The vending machine you see all over town. You can look online to see whats available (they have video games too) and then reserve a movie/game incase they run out, so you are guaranteed a movie. Its pretty awesome. Best thing is, its just $1!!!!!!!!!
Netflix just added Breaking Bad on streaming... SO GOOD. :) They still really do seem to have the largest selection in one place, but I am going to examine Blockbuster options b/c of the Netflix price increase.
It is going to be hard to find a legitimate new release rental online. There are a lot of laws and regulations that prevent companies from doing this. Obviously the Internet has made movies more accesible, but the production companies still want you to buy the movies from them. This is why companies like Netflix have to wait 30 days before they even can carry(Hard Copies) the new releases. I think there is a whole different standard for allowing new movies to be streamed. Even with all the regulation I think your best bet has already been said Netflix or iTunes if you want to try something else.
I personally love streaming Netflix even though they aren't the newest, I use it every single night, more so for the TV shows now.
If your internet connection isn't good for streaming you could try Qwikster, their new break off of Netflix that does PS3 games and movie's (all new) by mail...
But also, if you by chance have cable or known someone that does and have HBO. You can access all the new HBO movies and stream them via http://www.hbogo.com/
netflix has lots of new movies to watch instantly, and if you don't see anything you like you can rent a brand new release for like 3 or 4 bucks. that's about the same as renting at the store. i think it's a good deal, especially because netflix is only 9 bucks a month! so cheap.
