I'm thinking something like this would be nice for you. They look very comfortable!
Has in-line hands-free mic and playback music controller.
I really like the flat cord, as it should help to keep it from getting all tangled.
Should be some pretty high quality sound coming out of these, definitely better than the cheap white apple 'phones.

Skullcandy makes decent ear buds that are often on sale for less than $30.
The sound quality is much better than other options at that price level.
