I agree with Matt that self-stick foam is a really great option. Definitely get an option that is most weather proof. Frost King is pretty good. Stay warm this winter!
You know, I have tried this and the foam keeps falling off constantly! I need some way to keep it up there, but I don't want to super glue it or anything like that because I live in an apartment.
When it's set up right it totally insulates, but when it falls down it becomes useless!! Aaagggg

I put this stuff around my door and it worked to some success. The main problem is that it doesn't stick very well. Within about half an hour of putting it up it started falling down! So with some small picture hanging nails I banged it back on there and it has stayed ever since.
It noticeably reduces the draft of cold air. If I put my hand over the one spot I wasn't able to cover I can feel the cold air coming in...the rest is sealed pretty well.
I used this stuff too but I didn't have enough space between the door and the frame to put it in there. Instead, I had to put a strip on the door that sticks over the top a little bit and also a strip along the frame that hangs down a bit to meet the one on the door and create a good seal. I hope that made sense...
It works pretty well, but I had the same experience where it falls down occasionally.
Using a self stick foam is a great option and inexpensive for insulating doors. It's a pretty simple process. Just measure your door frame, cut, and tape the foam to the inside face of the door jamb. All done.
Once cold air moves in, it doesn't take long for heating costs to skyrocket. Don't let winter (or summer) get the best of your energy bill! Weatherizing is a great way to conserve energy and save on utility bills. Did you know you could save up to...

These work ok, and I think they are worth the price for the insulation they provide.
The only annoying thing is if the fit isn't just right it will keep getting snagged. Like it works on my front door just fine but on my back one the frame is a bit funky and so it get caught on it. Besides that it's a pretty good little device.
