Sounds like you overpronate like me. This pair of Mizunos I bought a few months ago have treated me very well. They are great for small or medium frame women. So far they have good shock absorption, cushioning, and plenty of support.
By the way, I had tried Shox too and got crazy shin splints. Asics and New Balance have some good options for arch support as well if these Mizuno's don't fit your style.

Normally I would say stay away from Nike. Nike is usually horrible for people who overpronate or have flat feet and provide little arch support.
A friend just got me a pair of these Air Pegasus's and they are seriously awesome! They also come with the little gadget for your iPhone to track your running.
If you have been burned too much by Nike and don't wanna go this route, I also agree with Annette regarding Mizuno's.
