Kirkland brand is almost always a great way to go. I like this for occasional constipation....it's not something you have to take every day, just when you feel constipated. It dissolves easily in just about any beverage and doesn't really taste like anything.
I'm all about regularity. I prefer taking something everyday and maintaining a healthy digestive system to waiting until I'm constipated and trying to fix it. I also prefer using natural remedies when possible. So when somebody recommended this tea to me I was pretty excited! It has senna leaf, which is a natural laxative, and let me tell you, it works.
I drink a cup every night before bed (it's a nice, relaxing routine) and it definitely helps keep me 'regular'. I love the stuff. I feel like it's a wonderfully healthy way to keep my digestive system healthy.
As far as taste, it's definitely on the sweet side, and takes a minute to get used to. But I enjoy the taste and look forward to my cup every night!
I like the tea option, too. I have used 3 Ballerina Tea in the past, and Holy crap (no pun intended) it REALLY works. I don't recommend using it every day, as it can actually cause some adverse health effects after prolonged use, and it does not react well with certain things, including tylenol and vit. C.
It is an amazing laxative, drink one or two cups and you will feel it about 4-6 hours later. But beware, this stuff is pretty serious and even though it's natural there are actually a lot of warnings to consider before ingesting, so read up on it to make sure it's safe for you! I'm not sure which one is the best because they all do something a little different so I have a few suggestions for you based on personal preference:
Philips Milk of Magnesia and Miralax draw water from other body parts to allow for easier passing of stools but you may suffer bloating, cramping, diarrhea, nausea, gas, and increased thirst as a result.
Benefiber, Citrucel, Fiber Choice, and Metamucil absorb water to form softer stools but also can cause bloating, gas, cramping, and sometimes increased constipation if you don't drink enough water.
Colace and Kaopectate add moisture strain free bowel movements and the side effects are as simple as a sore throat or cramping.
Ex-lax and Senokot make your stomach contract so that you can more easily eliminate your stool but these can often cause belching, cramping, diarrhea, and nausea.
My mom is a nurse so I have lots of information on hand. I hope this helps you choose something more to your liking.
