What is the best diet plan for quick long term weight loss?

My wife just started the Dukan Diet, I'm curious what other people think and if there is something better out there.

This diet is amazing!! It basically lays out an entire day to day diet plan with breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner and even dessert! The recipes are so easy to follow and so tasty! The key is to cook fast, but EAT SLOW. Many people have the habit of scarfing their food down but with this tasty diet, it can work very fast if you follow it right and turn this into a life style of balanced meals. I love it, you should try it too! What do you have to lose except some weight! ;)

As far as a healthy lifestyle change, and something that is actually easy to stick to, I most recommend The South Beach diet. Eliminating carbs is hard, but definitely the easiest way I have found to instantly start dropping weight.

This is a quick guaranteed weight loss plan. I got this book when I had a wedding to go to and no time! So I bought this quickly on amazon and started it ASAP. I lost 12 pounds in 2 weeks! It was amazing! It was hard at first but you get used to it and then towards the end, its easy but when it comes time for the event and all that good food they serve along with cake, its over for me....... so its a great way to lose weight fast but its up to you how long you will stick to it.

Weight watchers helped in that it made me actually conscious of everything I was putting in my mouth. I am not on a strict Weight Watchers plan anymore, but I still keep a food journal, and that helps.

I looked up your Dukan Diet because I had never heard of it and was curious what you wife had purchased. Sounds very much like Atkins but with less restrictions. Has anyone tried the Zone diet? This is one I found easy to stick to and still do after years. It's initially annoying having to weigh or measure my food but after a while I memorized all that I needed to know to give me a good balance of protein, fat, and carbs. The nice thing is that I don't feel restricted in any way. I mean, who lets you melt cheese on your lowfat chicken? Lol. Just an example but if I've already had olive oil on something else but still need a little more fat I will add some cheese somewhere. I find that on this diet I don't have the cravings for chocolate or something along those lines. I feel well balance. Give the book a read. If nothing else, it's very interesting and very informative.

The only thing that truly worked for me was committing to walk and/ or run every day. I got a treadmill to keep me motivated on days I didn't make it outside. It was worth it to me to have it right there in my house.

I think the best thing you can do is cook at home for yourself and that helps you really stick to the whole foods and less junk food. This book is perfect for helping guide you with easy fabulous recipes and a day to day plan which I loved the best, I'd be lost without it when I was dieting. It's a very healthy way to diet allowing you to eat food you love, it just helps choose the better things for you.

Additionally, the quick weight loss diets below are not intended for everyone.

As you have heard a zillion times; losing weight is all about consuming less calories and moving more. It's truly that simple. Finding a nutrition plan that works best for you particular lifestyle and changing your daily behaviors is the tricky part.

The diet below was developed for a client because she wanted an easy meal plan for weight loss based on her busy life. We hope you can find some value from it. It's a good diet plan for fast weight loss with those individuals living a hectic day-to-day existence.

Tips to Keep In Mind While Dieting

Take a multi-vitamin daily. Diet plans for quick weight loss usually lack enough nutrients including vitamins and minerals.

Calories, calories, and calories should be your focus for losing weight fast. Make sure you are getting the correct balance for your size, activity level and goals.

Plan your meals the night before or earlier during the week. Planning is critical and can make a tremendous difference.

Have a "game plan" for exchanges when you are in a rush or don't have access to your normal foods.

Never, and we mean never, skip breakfast. Research has validated that skipping breakfast is a big "no-no".

Increase your fluid intake. Pack a water bottle and try to drink more ice water. Freezing cold water can actually cause you to burn more calories. Not a substantial amount, but every little bit helps.

There is not nearly enough fruits and veggies in the below plan. Keep that in mind, and always work to be increasing your intake of the "green" stuff.

Keep track of your calories. Ideally, use a log of some sort and bring it with you everywhere. Research has proven that writing down your calories can make all the difference for dieter's success rates and can help enlighten you about the true calories in the foods you eat.
