What is the best casual winter boot/shoe?

This is a gorgeous boot! I recently purchased these bad boys for similar reasons as you. They are casual enough but can certainly be dressed up to look very fancy. They are leather so they will provide a nice barrier against the elements, although they are not completely water proof.
I find it is really tough to find anything that is both waterproof AND attractive, so I usually go with the latter.
These truly are some beauties and I can't recommend them highly enough.
Steve Madden makes a great product! A trusted name in footwear... and I know because my girlfriend used to work and DSW (designer shoe warehouse) and always told me to buy Steve Maddens because they are high quality.

These are some hella cool boots man. Full leather upper, high top cut. Rubber sole. They should be water proof enough, as long as you're not wading through puddles or tramping through snow drifts.
I think they look sweet, and they seem like exactly what you're looking for.

This is EXACTLY what you are looking for... I know this because it is exactly what I was looking for about two months ago.
These are the perfect blend of snow boot and casual shoe. They can be worn all day with max comfort and style, then you can hike through the snow on your way home or wherever and the water resistant lining will keep your feet dry and warm as heck.
Honestly, what drew me to these at first was the cool aesthetics. I think these look bomb diggity, whatever that means.
These are great man, I wouldn't suggest them if I didn't love 'em.

I love these boots. They are a great casual boot but can be worn outside in the rain and snow and I stay perfectly dry. They are very comfortable and the leather is soft and waterproof. They seem to be made very well. I've had mine for a couple of years and have held up with the use I put them through (casual play, hiking, camping, etc.). I haven't yet had to buy a new pair but I definitely will when the time comes. The fact that they come in so many colors is great too. I have black now but I'm thinking of getting the camel or brown.

Check this shoe out dude it will rock your world.
Uncomfortable at first, but my how they mold to your feet! Now I love them and this past spring I wore them to work everyday. The are the perfect combo of all day comfort, a style I can deal with, waterproofness, and lots of tread. So they are just spectacular for trudging through snow and rain on my way to the office.
If you like the style you def. like this shoe.
