An incredible read, cover to cover. I read almost this whole thing in one sitting because I simply could not put it down. It's a great overview of the war and it has stunning pictures to accompany. Really a fantastic way to learn your ww2 history and gain an appreciation for these men and women of the us armed forces.

This is an absolutely incredible story that follows American naval soldiers through two major battles in the Pacific theater in which they were severely outmatched but managed to use their strength and courage to muster up enough gusto to defeat their Japanese counterparts. Also takes the time to profile the Japanese commanders and their side of it.
The aftermath is particularly memorable and heartbreaking as they fight to stay alive in rafts on the open sea as their fellow soldiers struggle to survive and die off around them.
An amazing example of the hell our soldiers go through to keep this country free.

This is a very interesting story about the challenges to train dogs but how critical they were to the war. Some of the scenes are very touching and even brought me close to tears. The journey our men made as well as the dogs are so amazing I still don't feel like I know enough. A great read.
