Another great Cesar Milan book. I never thought I would like this sort of thing but the guy is AMAZING at training dogs and somehow communicates to dogs as if he was part dog or something....
This is a good book that goes into detail about what he always talks about on his show: being a pack leader and showing the dogs that you are running the show.

This book is an excellent read, but almost better to read BEFORE you get a dog. It really analyzes how to find a good doggie match for you based on your personality and then how to approach training based on the type of dog and their personality as well.

Dog training kind of depends on the type of dog. I think you can go with almost any book if you have a mixed breed but there are certain breeds that have certain temperments and need a particular type of training. I've generally only had mutts with a pit bull or boxer here and there but I've always been a fan of using a spray bottle in my training. It's a very effective tool. I've known many who hit their animals as a part of their training but I'm not a fan. When my animal barks or whines for no reason I squirt him in the face. It's bothersome and annoying to them so they learn to stop. Something to think about.
