For 35K you can get a lot of car. I'm going to suggest the Ford Fusion Hybrid. It is a fantastic investment that will save you money in the long run. Right now in this crazy world it's important to think about saving gas and going with a hybrid option. It's a great investment.
These are fantastic cars. Ford has changed their focus (no pun intended) and is making high quality, efficient, reliable vehicles. You can custom design your own, which is really fun. Check it: http://bp3.ford.com/2012-Ford-Fusion?branding=1&am...
I think that the Toyota Avalon is an amazing machine. They are the roomiest compact cars I've ever ridden or driven. They have great gas mileage, look like a million bucks, and come pretty well loaded. I love the way they drive and did I mention how roomie?!
Dude you can get a new Audi A4 for like 32 grand...... that's my dream car. Audi's are so awesome - they have the best handling ever.
I will be so jealous of you.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest the all new chevy Volt. It just won 2011 North American Car of the Year, and is the first electric car EVER to do so.
It's one of the first fully electric vehicles available to the public. You should get in on this wave of the future, especially with gas prices being so absurd. They are great vehicles that are going to change the future of car making.
Thank you all for great suggestions. The first list I created for myself is BMW-128i Convertible, Ford Mustang, Audi A4, Volt. I did go for a test drive for 128i last weekend, it was great but a little bit noisy: I proved myself not a roaming engine fan. I would think that Mustang has the same problem, too strong a car for me. Thanks for James who added Fusion to my list and thanks to Ryan and Destinee who happened to support my list :). I live with my girlfriend and we are not planning to have kid for next several years, so roomy is not in urgent demand for me. Thanks all the same Melanie. For the used car option, Ryan, I may have problem approved by my loan bank. They set a maximum millage line for me.
Thanks to you all again. I am still open to new advices and hope this thread helps others also.
Go for a used car that is just 2-3 years old, they have taken the bulk of the depreciation (50%), and they most likely will still have the original warranty. A 2008 BMW 750IL Sport was for sale from a "dealer" for just $36k last week (Oakland, CA) Originally over $80k!
