I poured over a bunch of vehicles when looking for our 'family' car. Minivans are in a class of their own when it comes to hauling stuff. Plenty of room in the back even when the third row is up. Most suv's/crossovers have no space in the back unless you fold down a row. When you are talking kids, strollers, luggage, etc. - you'll need the cargo capacity of a minivan.
Thanks guys, we have one kid, but I know going ahead, the family gets bigger, then you have parents come over for vaccation and you need room to make a road trip.
I agree, Pilot looks cooler, but functionality wise Odyssey wins. Just wanted to throw out the question and see public response. :)
I think you're on the right track. Both are really great vehicles (I've owned them both) and it will really come down to what your needs are or will be for internal space and capacity. I started out with the Odyssey because it had a lot of room for the whole family (5 of us, plus friends from time to time) and when my kids got older I went to the Pilot. Now that everyone is almost gone I'm in an Accord. Funny how it all changes. Honda's a great vehicle. You can't choose wrong.
We've owned a Pilot and my parents used to own the Odyssey. I thought that the seats of the Pilot were more comfortable than the Odyssey. Depending how much driving you plan on doing, that may also be something to consider. And trunk space when all seats are in use.
I think they have the same engine and tranny? Yeah if I remember right they are very similar.... both can seat eight and have similar safety features. The Pilot, however, has WAY less interior space, I mean virtually no back storage if the third row seat is up. useless if you have kids that are growing....
On the other hand, I think we can all agree that the pilot looks a little cooler. At least i think so.
Basically it comes down to space vs. aesthetics, and unfortunately, functionality always wins!
Go with the Mini van.
