It's a tough call. Like Greg said, you really need to test them out to see what you want. I have an android phone that I have rooted and this thing is all kinds of tricked out, but it's a bit glitchy. A bonus of having an android phone is you can customize the hell out of it. You don't have as many options with an iPhone, but it is a solid product that you can depend on. Your carrier can make a difference as well.
Here's an article comparing a good android phone with an iPhone 4S. It's worth checking out.

Hey, just wanna say thanks to Greg and Weste for not going on an "iPhone sucks" rampage, or a "Droid sucks" rampage. I see this way too often, people just saying how awesome their phone is and how much the other type sucks, and really that is just silly. Both are fantastic phones, each offering a different experience that can be advantageous to some and not others. It's completely subjective. The best is to try them out and see what you like. Ask your friends if you can mess around with their phone, or go to a retailer and play with the demo for a little bit.
Either way you will get a great phone, so you need to figure out which one you enjoy using more.

Exactly, I'm hoping people can keep the conversation neutral which I try to do because it all depends on one's tastes. Android has it's pros over iOS and vice-versa. It's all about the user.

Personally I believe a 16GB iPhone 4S would be the better choice. I've had both, currently using an iPhone 4, and believe the iPhone is the better choice in terms of usability and longevity. My only concern with Android based phones is their short life time, they usually are phased out with every new operating system, and are generally replaced by a new model every few months. Of course this all depends on one's tastes and I encourage you to test out Android based phones as well. Some good choices for Android would be the: Droid 4, Droid Razr Maxx, or the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. All are very recent phones and show a lot of promise in the categories of 4G LTE data, having the newest Android operating system ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich), and are also powerful in terms of hardware. Again, this all depends on one's preferences so I encourage you to test out both iOS and Android before settling on a choice.

You know, I had an iPhone that I was totally happy with but I switched over to Sprint and at the time they didn't offer the iPhone so I went Android. I was pleased with it at first but now all I have is problem after problem. I still like the fact that I can download free music and wallpapers or ringtones but other wise there are just too many bugs for me. On the other hand, I understand that if I go iPhone I could still have a problem there as well, nothing is perfect, however, I run everything off of Apple so I can download my movies, music, apps, books, etc from my computer and be very happy as well. I also like the selection of apps better on iPhone.
