I would definitely say tortoise shell are the way to go. These will never go out of style, and are very high quality. If you don't want to spend a lot (understandable, neither do I) I'm sure you could find something similar but cheaper that would work just as well.

i think these are the way top go as far as men's shades. they're like tortoise shell aviators... awesome. huge lenses = huge coverage. Go for the celebrity look man!

Ray bans are always a good choice. Great build, high quality, serious sun protection. I like the aviators but really anything from Ray Ban will be solid and stylish. If you aren't sure about which style is right, it's always a good idea to go with something like Ray Ban because they only make good looking stuff and you simply can't go wrong.
This is always an awesome look as far as shades go. Retro but still relevant. However, shop around a bit.... don't buy this exact pair because they are plastic and cheap and fake... but look into something similar to these.

These are pretty awesome but I also happen to be into Oakleys. I like that they're Oakleys but don't look like your typical Oakley.... sturdy as hell too. Lenses filter out all of the crap you don't need. Very comfortable and lightweight. Love them.
