I would go ahead and get both of them. The really great thing about ME games is that all of your decisions in the previous games effect the playing style and game options of the others.

Very Much Yes, Either on PC or 360, On ps3 it would be ok but they didn't release the first one there so that's a down side, You should really go through the entire story line, from the very beginning so you can see how great the story line will become.

I'm replaying them right now and ME1 still holds up very well. I say play them from the start because it'll be impossible playing ME1 if 3 is your first Mass Effect experience. Amazing games. BTW don't play a Soldier, try out a Biotic or tech.

Totally would be awsome to play through both before Mass Effect 3. Story might be long with all the dlc but its way worth it!

Both mass effect games are great. The only qualm I have with them is the achievements which force several playthroughs, but other than that, highly recommended.

To save money, I would suggest getting me2 and skipping me1. Me2 has dlc that allows your to make all the essential choices that effected the story in me1 for your save file in mass effect 2. Catch up with the plot in mass effect one in a wiki, and then play through and beat mass effect two, and you'll have a save file that spans all three games in preparation for mass effect 3.

I agree with everyone else... go ahead and get 'em! You won't be sorry. They are both charming in their own way.

Yes, The combat in ME1 is Sub-Par, But the story is on of the best in video games. The second one is cool, but lacks a cool story. So in my opinion first one is better.

In anticipation! They are just such good games anyway that they have value on their own. Don't get them for anticipation! Get them for themselves!

If you have not played them, go for it. In my opinion, ME2 is very fun and has an immense stroyline.
