This is a small and lightweight DSLR option that won't break the bank. It's a pretty easy camera to learn and does well in low light. You also have a big ISO range to give you more shooting options. My motto on trips is always the more you shoot the better the shots you get. Have a blast!

That is so true. Come to think of it, how is the continuous shooting on this?

I prefer a compact camera when I travel but definitely want the best picture quality possible. This camera is refreshing in that the pictures it creates are outstanding and yet it's light and small enough to put in my pocket as I explore my surroundings. It has a fast f/2.0 lens and 10 megapixels with an easy to customize menu and control options. The f/2.0 lens will provide shallow depth of field and is great for low light conditions. This camera can also capture HD video. Nicest looking compact camera, in my opinion, and a great travel companion.

Compact is a good idea. Definitely don't want to obsess about where to put my camera. Thank you.

If you are open to the idea of a micro 4/3 camera, this would be perfect for travel. It's very similar to a dslr in terms of versatility (interchangeable lenses) and picture quality. The reason I suggest it is because it is quite a bit smaller than a dslr. Being mirrorless, they can make them pretty compact and still get great shots.
This one has very snappy autofocus which will be good for capturing that moment!
It also has a cool swivel touch-screen which makes filming easy and navigating the menu easy as well.
Look into the 4/3 options. I think you will like what they have to offer!
