VLC is a must for any computer. The best video player you can ever use, without having to deal with any annoying codec problems.

  Dropbox - Simplify your life

I see you have windows on it as well, so wunderlist to sync todo lists. Also works on iPhone, Android and in a browser, and Dropbox to sync/transfer files.

Adobe Reader. You're screwed without it.
If you're looking for something fun, however... Steam!

Absolutely not. Adobe Reader is nothing but bloatware. Preview is much nicer.

If you want to record for youtube videos, Screenflow is great. You can upload in 1080p but it costs a LOT. If you search Screenflow 3.0.1 or 3.0 codes, you can get it for free.

Transmission. Rock solid torrent client.

Oh and VLC, Chrome, The Unarchiver, Open Office, and Virtual Box.

All free!

Quicksilver is the smallest but best. It's a program launcher that learns key combinations. I launch all of my most used programs with just a few keystrokes.

I recommend unrarx and apptrap.
Unrar X is the winrar version of mac that helps you open .rar files if needed and Apptrap which is an application that removes any files associated with an application when thrown into the trash. Basically helps you fully unistall a program from your mac with not associated files left behind.

HandBrake is a program that's free where you can convert almost any video file format into another. I use it to convert AVI files to iTunes compatible ones so I can put all of my movies into my iTunes library so they can be in one place.

Well I'm into music so I think a great recording program like Pro Tools is a must have. Very expensive, though. Ouch.
It's amazing what you can accomplish with this program though!
