I can vouch for this, I have plugged 100+ hours into this game. I picked up this game when it was on sale over the holidays (Steam Winter Sale). You will enjoy this game if you like RPG + Tower Defence game.
Aside from recommending Dungeon Defenders (already recommended by someone else), I say Magicka. It's a great multiplayer game if you're into that. It requires team work. You can combine different elements to make new spells. Example: Fire+Rock/Earth = Fireball.
Super Meat Boy is my favorite Indie game. It's a few dollars over your budget but believe me, it's worth every penny. You should also get VVVVVV on Steam, it's like $5 and a great game as well. http://store.steampowered.com/app/70300/
Super Meat Boy is incredibly frustrating and amazingly fun at the same time.
VVVVVV is a quick game with some of the best music I've heard.
And Terraria is really fun with friends, or just joining the community on the official forums and playing games with the users there. Just don't say it's a 2d Minecraft. They don't like that.
Definitely. I don't know, there's something about Super Meat Boy's mechanics that just works. The controls are super responsive, the level design is great and although it's an unbelieavably hard game the fact that you can restart instantly (not even the soundtrack stops) ends up making you try again and again without feeling like throwing your controller against the wall in rage. Which also boosts the sense of accomplishment when you finally beat a particular level.
I have yet to try playing Terraria with friends, basically because I'm still a noob at it on Single Player. But I've heard great things about it.
one of the best platformers in recent years, only 5 dollars on Steam, amazing deal. Also Bastion($15) Super Meat Boy($15) Ben There, Dan That(hilarious point and click, $5) and plenty more
Jamestown, hands down. Probably one of the most fun shmups I'v played in years. It was part of the HiB #4 so if you do a video about it you'll have more than a couple commenters on it.
Cave Story is a great indie game on steam, although this is the remake, the original cave story was produced by one man, all of the dialogue, level design, even music was created by Daisuke Amaya, aka. Pixel, this indie game is a must get for people who love old style platformers, and/or love good plot driven games =D, i highly recommend this game.
This is great game for Youtube channel. It is action RPG game. Everytime there is randomly generated dungeon for you. And also it has awesome music. Give it a try you wont regret it.
Terraria is a really fantastic one that you can pick up for $9.99 on Steam. It's similar to Minecraft, but it's set in a 2D perspective rather than a 3D one. It's also much more combat oriented than Minecraft is, with many weapons to use and many enemies to fight. I've sunk over a hundred hours into it since I got it.
Trine is on Steam for $10, though it has been for a lot cheaper and it was part of a Humble Bundle. Trine 2 sells for $15, but it adds so much enemy variety that it's worth the extra $5.
Get the Humble indie bundle! its 10 games for around 5 dollars. Some of the games have won "Best Indie Game" such as Braid, Cortex Command! Its actually any price you want since all the money goes to charity. I pay around 15 dollars but my friend pays around 60 cents for all the games!
Binding of Isaac: A good game, kind of reminds me of a shooter version of 2D Legend of Zelda titles' dungeoning system of rooms, items, and all that good stuff. Doooon't play it if you're easily freaked out, though, or if you're offended by things that sort of poke fun at christianity.
Drag and drop living, squirming, talking globs of goo to build structures, bridges, cannonballs, zeppelins, and giant tongues. The millions of innocent goo balls that live in the beautiful World of Goo are curious to explore. But they don't know t...

Uplink is $9.99. I've gotten countless hours of fun and frustration out of it. The game makes you figure out how to hack futuristic systems, forcing you to use your brain (rare in games these days).
King Arthur's Gold is like Terraria but its mainly a multiplayer online game. Basically you build castles and such as defenses and your enemy does the same then the Knights and Archers on your team charge at each other. It has surprisingly deep and complex gameplay and strategy as well. Unfortunately, I believe that they raised the price to $12.50 just two days ago. It is still in alpha though, and the free version of the game is still really fun and you don't miss out on much.
Great game with near endless possibilities, plus the Devs are extremely good with keeping the community informed on what's happening with the game at all times.
Knytt Stories. A beautiful little indie game that can last you maybe 30 minutes to an hour on the main storyline, and has bazillions of level created by the community using the included level editor. Did I mention it's free?
I'm just going to step into my time machine and assume you asked this question a year or so ago. Minecraft>*. Best $10 I ever spent. It is now $20? but still worth it.
I recently got Killing Floor off of Steam for around 6 dollars US. I think it goes for around 10 now.
Think Left 4 Dead meets Call of Duty zombie mode, and you'll have Killing Floor.
For the amount of money, I'd defiantly say its worth it.
As people have said before, Terraria is one of the most fun indie games I have ever played, Super Meat boys a good choice also, but i think terraria definantly takes the cake
This is a tough question. Personally, I'd say that Immortal Defense might be my favourite right now, though it might not be the best game for you to showcase.
However, there's so many other answers I can happily promote it. Give it a shot, the demo is the first 20 levels and the game is PWYW.
Uplink is an amazing hacking simulation game. It requires no real-world hacking knowledge to play. It is very addicting and immersive. I sometimes find myself forgetting that it is not real.
If you have any friends to play with you can pick up magicka for 9.99 on steam. Now that is a game worth playing altough it has some game breaking glitches and crashes. It is tons of fun. also there is limbo which is also 9.99, great singleplayer a bit short but well worth the money you pay.
Limbo is kind of creepy and dark, but has great mood and controls.
You should really check all of these out, it is pay what you want and you get to designate how much of your donation goes to charity! all the games are a blast, but I'm partial to bitrunner.
Not sure on US prices but the original Trine is still worth a play through and Bastion is superb, if you wanted something a little more retro try Cthulu saves the World and Breath of Death VII as a double pack on Steam
Super Meat Boy is a tough as nails platformer where you play as an animated cube of meat who's trying to save his girlfriend (who happens to be made of bandages) from an evil fetus in a jar wearing a tux. Our meaty hero will leap from walls, over ...

My brother plays this game, says it's pretty cool. Lots of characters to choose from and hundreds of levels with cool stories, warp zones, and other games. I've only watched, myself, but it seems like it would be a good time.
Like a previous poster said, be sure to check each humble bundle. They typically put the best of the best for sale on there. Also, the Indie Royale has some good games from time to time. And I know it's over $10, but Bastion is the greatest indie game of all time IMO. It has a near perfect blend of gameplay, story, music, atmosphere, and art design. I haven't been that impressed by a game since I played Majora's Mask.
"Towns" is quickly growing in popularity, and for the purposes of youtube, it would be great to work with. The more popular title already have a great number of "let's Play" videos and such.
