I'm thinking you need something like this. Sorry if it's a bit more than you want to spend, but it's a great general purpose lens...something she can really grow into. It's the real deal though! Not plastic or anything. She will be able to get AMAZING pics with this thing, for real. Possibilities are endless. A great 'walkabout' lens, as they say. Quick, accurate autofocus.

This lens is a great everyday lens but having a couple different types doesn't hurt either. It will provide great quality images and will reduce the chance of any ghosting or flare. Your pictures, or your daughters pictures will be crisp and sharp.
