These are pretty awesome. We have a couple strands at my place and they look so cool all around my yard. The neighbors are totally jealous!

My favorite lights are just white string lights. I would say, whatever you buy, go for LED. They are energy saving and proven to last longer. Happy holidays!

I'm kind of into these party ropes. The really great thing about them is that you won't have the issue of needing to turn every bulb to make them uniform with the rest. I hate when I drive up to my house and a few lights seem to be missing or burnt out only to find that they've twisted and hidden themselves behind the eves. These you can put up in almost in fashion and then you can select a light combination that suits your mood. You can do waves, combinations, fades, on/off blinking, etc. They're pretty cool and inexpensive.

This is another great product for the outdoors. These are completely solar powered so there's no additional energy cost if that's important to you and you won't need any extension cords because you don't need an outlet. The sun charges the lights by day and they turn on automatically when it gets dark. They are pretty cool but be warned, if you live in places like WA or somewhere similar, charging can become challenging because there is limited sun. With that said it does still get a bit of a charge but it's not as bright and awesome as when the sun is out.

I'm not sure if you had a price range in mind but this is super cool for Christmas. It's an outdoor light and a sound system that synchronizes your yard lights with holidays songs! I love it. All you do is plug in your Christmas lights into the outlets and the speaker plays songs at random. It's also protected from weather so it can get ruined from moisture or dirt. Very cool deal!
