Activating an older phone under another number?

Recently, if you did see the post about it, I completely killed my Droid X2. My brother is bringing his old one up when he comes home this weekend. My question is: Do I just need to go to Verizon, request my number and service to be transferred to the phone?

I'm not sure what your phone requires but it used to be as easy as switching out the SD cards...some phones just require you to call to get it all transferred. Depends on the phone type.

My phone broke somewhat recently and my girlfriend gave me her old phone to use. I believe switching the number was as easy as dialing *228 and following the prompts.... pretty sure that's all it takes.

Have you gone to the Verizon store to see if they will replace your phone? Sometimes you get lucky and they hook you up. They can also help set the phone your brother is giving you.

Probably going to say to the Verizon people, anything we can do about this? If they say yes, I'm going to completely forget about my brothers Droid X. If they say no, then i'm transfering my phone to the Droid X. Win win either way.

I would go ahead and call 1-800-837-4966 (1-800-VERIZON) and ask Verizon this question, I'm sure they'll be happy to respond.
