In that budget range you can certainly score yourself a professional grade blender. This will blend and puree and serves a fair amount of people with a 32 ounce container. Waring is so confident in this blender the motor comes with a 5 year warranty.

This 5 speed KitchenAid can handle a heavy workload, including fruits and veggies, peanut butter, the works. 6 amps/ .9 horsepower, and if you clean carefully should last you for years to come.

This is a nice enter level Ninja unit (designed for juicing). It will crush solid ice cubes not to mention a number of fruits and veggies. And with the no base design no gunk gets stuck at the bottom.

Okay, I know a tiny bit over budge, but this really is just about the best shredder for your needs out there, so I thought I would be remiss not to recommend it. Really heavy duty and durable. Can do a 11 sheets at a time. Can handle credit cards. Great piece of machinery.
|
|
|
|

Medium duty shredder that should support a small business just fine. Can do up to 880 sheets in 5 minutes. Will do up to 11 sheets at once and gets good marks in the durability department.

Will easily get through paper and staples easily (up to a 11 sheets at a time). Fellowes is a grand brand in shredders and it should serve you well. Also comes with a nice safety lock feature.

Will quickly destroy any sensitive docs and credit cards are well. Activates easily and fairly quiet. Can purchase up to a 3 year warranty as well.

You can't go wrong with the Fellowes brand. They always come with a solid warranty. This one is nice and quiet and will fit in a fairly small space. Check out the specs:
Quiet, cross cut shredder can shred up to 8 sheets per pass and 85 sheets per minute
Yields 5/32 x 2-inch micro-cut particles for security
Auto start/stop function ensures quick, easy operation; sheet capacity gauge prevents paper jams
Patented SafeSense Technology stops the shredder when hands are close to the paper opening
Convenient window lets you see when the 6-gallon wastebasket is full

I agree with Jenny that the SteelSeries is just about the best out there. Modified specifically to prevent mistypes. A favorite amongst FPS players, and what I like to use too. :)

20 pages per minute and has a resolution of 600 x 600 dpi. It is suitable for printing documents, business letters and web pages, to name a few. it's monochrome so it is easy to maintain (you only need 2 cartridges, and they will go a long way.)

Nice option in this price range. Easy installation. Can be used wirelessly. I've found the scanning quality to be great. Easy to use touch screen as well.

Really nice quality of both scans and copies. HP has been in the business a long time and this is a nice all-in-one for a nice price. Can go wireless or USB, also excellent cost per page.

Canon Powershot is a great option. 12.1 effective megapixels, 1/2.3-inch high-sensitivity CMOS; 14x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom it really takes gorgeous images.

It seems likes these days you can buy an extended warranty with pretty much any machine you buy, so if I were you I would go with the best machine for you versus best warranty, and then consider buying an add'l warranty added on after if you are super hard on your computer. Also, whenever I buy a Mac these days, I always buy Apple Care to extend the warranty. Hope this helps!

ViewSonic gets excellent reviews in the monitor department, so perhaps a really good option. 13.3" 1366 x 768 LED Backlit Display; 1.3 Megapixel Webcam. Nice clarity and picture on every Viewsonic monitor I've ever looked at.

I've got one of these bad boys. It's a washer/dryer combo. It's all one step. I bought it because I have a small place and needed a ventless machine. It comes with a one year warranty. So far I've had no trouble and I really like it. I especially love that washing/ drying is all one step.

I am usually a Nikon girl but as far as little compact cameras, I LOVE this Leica. Powerful 32 MB internal memory, up to 2 GB of storage space on SD cards, 1.5" color monitor, and 5.1 megapixel resolution for the best images of brilliant quality. It's also adorable and fits in your pocket, and you can shoot video on it.

You might try a used/ re certified Nikon--new it will put you over budge--I've shot great photos at night with Sigma 30mm f1.4, Nikkor 50mm f1.8 and Nikkor 18-200mm lenses (not kit lenses). I really love Nikon for its lenses in general. I started to learn on an old 35mm Nikon and have been partial to Nikons ever since. You'll also need a good tripod when you're gonna shoot super open at night. Nikon recommends you turn off VR when you shoot at night. Overall the D80 is going to give you a lot of control, and you can get some gorgeous shots.

I love the ability to add a keyboard doc. Makes it easy for taking notes. Plenty of USB ports for connecting extra devices. Nice, large screen. For me, it's been working out well so far.

I agree that Vizio is the way to go in this price range. The netflix and Vizio apps are cool and work great. The TV is nice and thin so it will fit just about anywhere. The picture and sound exceeded my expectations for the price range. Check out the specs:

Built-in WiFi 802.11n
1080p Full HD with Razor LED backlighting

Very close to your budget, this little guy is fast and powerful. Great, sensitive touch screen. Easily watch videos, and the 8 megapixel camera takes gorgeous photos. HDMI outport is handy too. If you are an Android nerd, you will notice that Xperia is using the last operating system, but is scheduled to upgrade soon. If you are brand new to Androids though, this probably won't bother you in the slightest, and it's a really great phone.

Built for reading, but now transfers into a great Android tablet as well now that you can download many Android apps. Comes pre-loaded for email. Apps behave just like a book. Web browsing is faster than original Nooks, and screen was constructed for reading/ to be easy on the eyes. More limited than an Android tab that will serve fully like a mini PC, but for basics and for reading you can't beat the price.

Thin and light. Great display and great battery life. Easy to use and to carry. Even high resolution than the IPad screen, it compares nicely to the iPad, and you might be able to find it for cheaper if you shop around.

Dual core Atom processor. Nice design. Long battery life. NIce wide screen. On par with most netbooks out there, and getting more for your money than with an iPad (in my opinion). Overall, a really nice computer.

It is hard to get anything for free these days, but you might want to consider reaching out to the company directly. If you have a charitable cause, or an event where the company could get free publicity, it might be worth it. Good luck.

Christian is right. The main difference is price point, tablets being more expensive. Additionally tablets are usually without a keyboard and primarily with a touchscreen. If you are always on the go that is when I would say a tablet is most worth it, especially if you are out working in the field, or the like. Otherwise, I would say a netbook will serve you well and save you money.

The Asus is a great computer with a nice lightweight design, and excellent battery life. It also beats a lot of computers in its class by having a faster processor. Check out the specs:

Great gaming computer. Managing 55.6 frames per second (fps) on our Crysis (DirectX 10), it packs a punch. Check out these specs that should make any serious gamer happy:

This is a really basic computer but it is lightweight and has WiFi and is at a really nice price point, so it makes it a nice DJ tool as well. Comes Windows XP and 3GB of RAM and 3 USB ports, and a treat to carry around because it is so compact.
|
|
|
|
|
Rain computers are specifically designed to work with DJ software like Pro Tools and Serato. This model comes loaded with "Sandy Bridge" Core i3 dual-core processor and up to 8GB of DDR3 memory to keep the party going and keep you from crashing while playing. This is also thin, light, and quiet--optimum for playing music. Rain has become quite a standard for many DJs, and I think a great computer. Happy DJing!
|
|

|
Fantastic super slim computer. It measures just 16.5mm. Intel Core 2011 processor makes it a high performer as well. It has a rubbery finish similar to that of previous ThinkPads (so to me, it feels nice and comfy). Lots of ports as well: 20V AC port, USB 2.0-eSATA combo, USB 3.0 port, HDMI-out, a DisplayPort, and a covered SIM card slot for optional 3G connectivity (all along the back edge). Additionally has a 720 p web cam. Overall, I think it actually is a pretty great rival if not full on competitor to the Air.
|
|
|
|
|
If you prefer PC over Mac, this is a nice option. This machine is designed specifically for DJs and/ or music producers. It is designed to run programs such as Cubase, ProTools, Sonar, Reason, and other DJ-specific programs as well. It additionally is designed to stay cool and quiet when running. It also has a nice back-up/ restore function if you do crash. Again, this computer might not be good for EVERYTHING you need day to day, but if you want to devote this just to DJing, it is a really nice price, and designed for the music savvy.
|
|
|
|
|
As far as portability and an overall great machine, I still think Air is at the top of the list. High res monitor, excellent battery life, a solid state drive, a Nvidia 320M graphics chip-- it truly makes other computers in its class look bloated. It is more stripped down connectivity wise, and as far as storage space when compared to the Macbook Pro, so you have to decide when you are upgrading what you really need. If you are strictly shopping for sleek, it is an outstanding machine.

Hey Sean,
I would go for a Freestyle over a Freeride snowboard. The Freestyle is more responsive to a beginner. You also have to decide on the length of the board based on what you style of riding is. Different lengths really are built for different styles of riding. Additionally, you are going to have to face the fact that an entry level board is going to be a bit heavier than a more expensive board. This is a great place to start looking, and will give you a nice guide, and remind you of all the things you should consider before buying. If you are a total newbie, maybe think about renting first this season to figure out what you like: http://www.abc-of-snowboarding.com/buying-guide/bu...

2.5 mm connection

Hi, i don't own the product, but I found a review of the heater in consumer reports. I would say, it doesn't look worth the money, and a simple space heater will do the same job. I've got a women's NeoSport, and I like it a lot. Warm and comfy. I've owned Body Gloves before and I find it pretty comparable. Probably fully depends though if you are looking for a diving or a surfing suit... I'd say this one is better for diving, and to stay completely toasty get the gloves and footies.

Nice video tutorials so you can learn proper posture. You also have the ability to slow down songs while learning them. There are hundreds of lessons here, and you can enjoy the benefit of doing them again and again until you've mastered them. I really like it, and have watched my progress and the cost of this versus live lessons is incomparable. Good luck with your new musical endeavor!

Okay, okay, so I'm a chick with an inner Star Wars nerd inside, but this is the Star Wars game that I play. It is a squad-based first person shooting game that lets you explore the world of the Star Wars military in the midst of the Clone Wars (ala the second movie).

Really handy for traveling, and a really nice price point. Fairly basic specs: Specs are pretty standard for a 2010/2011 netbook: 1G RAM, 250Gb HD, 3 USB ports, basic video camera, separate Mic & headphone jacks, sd card slot, vga output and a very useful 8h battery life.

This is kind of like the mom-to-be Bible. My sister just had a baby and she called this book her life saver. It outlines pregnancy and issues that might arrive month by month. It also has remained on the NY Times Best Seller's list for years. If this is your first, this would definitely be a good book to buy. Good luck with everything!

This chair secures in two places onto a regular dining chair. The no-skid tread on the bottom also really helps keep the chair in place. Additionally, the one-handed release tray is really nice as everyone knows feeding a baby is no easy task.

I've been feeding my new nephew Gerber products, and my sister is a killer label-reader. Some Gerber foods do have added sugar, others do not, so be careful when reading the label. That said, shopping baby food on Amazon can save money over the grocery store.

This camera may look retro, but it has a lot of bells and whistles a modern day photographer will really like. Great lens that is a 35mm equivalent lens. Shoots 720 pixel video and 12.3 megapixel photographs. A built in viewfinder is great for an old school photographer, but I have to say you need some photography skills/ knowledge to get the best results with this camera. It is not super fast, and if you want great shots, you will need to take your time. Additionally, the manual focus is on this camera is not great, but the lens is, and it takes great photos without having to lug around a ton of additional lenses. Not for beginners, but still a great camera.

A couple of years ago I had surgery and it made it difficult to workout. Additionally, I have always been self-conscious in a bathing suit. When I found out Spanx made bathing suits, I bought a similar halter top to this one. It truly is the most flattering swimsuit I think I have ever owned.

You can remotely access your full on PC from anywhere with this Tablet. Another benefit is you can download apps from any developer with this product because you are not locked into Apple. It's also got nice long battery life, but the charger cord could have been a bit longer. Get yourself a docking station and a keyboard and this guy can replace a netbook easily and do more. Also, I love the price point.

Has anyone tried this one? Also looks like a good alternative at a good price.

I just suggested this for the question, "What is the best netbook?" It's a great travel computer, and I have owned multiple Acers. Here is my review in a nutshell: Nice computer with dedicated graphics (which make playing videos/ streaming videos super easy). Super fast. Nice keyboard with buttons in places you expect them to be. Comes with an 8 ft long power chord. The only thing I didn't get what I wanted with this was bluetooth, but overall, I am very happy with the purchase.

This is a tough price point for this type of camera, but there are a few options. This is an option if you are buying used. You may have to buy used to hit this price point with this type of camera. This camera does have some great pros though so if you can find a decent used one, it is worth scooping up: - records dolby digital stereo.
- carl zeiss lens (great lens)
- 10x optical zoom.
- three low light shooting modes: Nightshot, Super Nightshot, and Color Slow Shutter.
- big display.
- great connectivity options: including firewire
Good luck!

Has nice monitors to track your workout and fan to cool you while you sweat. It was easy to put together, but also super heavy. This is the kind of piece of equipment you need an extra room for. It can fold-up but I never fold it up due to its weight. I'm glad I've got it though because now that I do, I know I will get a run in every day.

Interesting 3D shooting feature that works not too badly, but I just bought it for shooting 2D, and the 2D is on par with a Flip. It is also compatible with 3D HD TVs, which I actually don't own, but think is pretty cool. If you want an easy and simple HD handheld camcorder with an extra 3D feature to tinker around with, may be a good option.

A nice starter piano with built in lessons, a come-with stand, and a nice default setting for grand piano.

I've found this maker fast and easy to use. It also comes with a one year warranty, should anything go wrong. The tank is also removable for cleaning, which is a really nice feature (not being able to fully clean other makers sufficiently definitely caused some malfunctioning in other cappucino makers I have had). A touch controller indicates when the machine is ready to brew and when it is ready to steam, which makes things easy.

If your pocket book can't quite swing Bose headphones, I recommend Skull Candy. I've travelled all over wearing these on long flights, and flip that noise canceling switch and crying babies and plane engines go away. You can also use them as regular headphones with the noise canceling switch off. Additionally, they fold up real small for traveling. If you need some reasonably priced headphones for travel purposes, I give these thumbs up.

Really nice bass sounds from these affordable speakers, and a nice price point too. Maybe not exactly right for surround sound, but definitely nice for a home theater system. 120 watt maximum input power, and they come with a 1 year warranty.

This camera comes with editing software for your PC and always works easily with iLife/ iMovie on Mac. Because it has been around for awhile it is also easy to download drivers for it for your Mac or PC.
Video playback on an HD TV is great, and the software makes it easy to burn DVDs you can watch again and again.
It has an infrared system for night shoots as well. I haven't used this function, but cool to know it is there. There is only a built in mic, and no mic jack, but I have been impressed with the sound quality. The touch screen did take some getting used to, but once I learned, it now feels easy to use. Thumbs up.

Still a great shower, and a water saver. If you also have to share a shower with picky people there are still full flow options you can adjust to. You will see an immediate difference in your bill... this model has actually been featured in several documentaries on conservation.

My mom makes killer bread with this machine. I will go to her house just to smell the bread baking. It also has settings particularly for gluten-free loaves which she makes just for me. :)

Ah, a man after my own heart. Nothing like a really good espresso. This machine is super quiet and makes delish espresso. I was shocked for the quality at the price point, but it is really good. It doesn't come with a steaming pitcher, or espresso tamper, so you may want to order one to go with it.

I agree with going with a portable option. I have a corgi and she enjoys a crate about this size. Also double check with all your local pet stores as well as big chains. I find the chains usually have a clearance sale on something once a month. It's really a great training tool.

I once had a down mattress pad and it was the comfiest thing EVER. Per this question, I think I will buy another one!

I agree with buying guards that are already in tact instead of the in-sock kind. I like these for their ventilation because it can get sweaty under there.

If your dog doesn't freak out about noise, this is a great and easy to use tool. You don't have to use clippers (which make my dog upset). This is more like a file. I highly recommend it.

If you don't want a full-on mask, and just goggles, I vote for Speedo. They let in very little water. Enjoy your trip!

Time gave Vibram an award for one of the best inventions of 2007. I have a pair, and they do feel good to run, but like any shoes, I did have to break them in/ get used to them. There are even grooves on the soul of the foot for traction, and I haven't yet had to replace them.

I actually remember doing these when I was a kid! I would tear through them, so buying in bulk seems like not a bad idea.

You usually want to use a concentrated detergent with any HE washer. Check the washing machine guide/ google your machine as they might even recommend a certain type to use with your machine. Again though, go for concentrate, not powder detergents.

Eek. Spiders! I usually have a can of Raid around for any pesky bugs that present themselves in the summer time. Be sure to clean up after the spray though especially if you have pets.

These bright colors just feel like summer to me. Blue is also super in... I feel like I have seen so many women wearing blue eye shadow all over town. Is it gauche to have your bag match your eye shadow? Wish I could swing the cost of a new Coach. Enjoy.

There's really nice call quality with these headphones. You can also hear calls in both ears. I've owned other headsets where this is not the case. If you are using them for music the sound quality I think is also quite good. You can also get up to 7 hours of talk time when fully charged up.

I like this remote for its simple button layout and DVR functions. It is compatible with both PCs and Mac if you are running your computer via your TV. Come with a nice rechargeable cradle, and stays charged for days even if you haven't charged it. If you are a gadget person you can take control of quite a few gadgets with this guy.

If you are a clothes horse or have the job of organizing the whole family's clothes try a wardrobe if you have the space. You can neatly back away seasonal clothes, and keep them hanging.

I really like the Supernail brand. They make both acetone and non acetone brands. I like this Vitamin E enriched brands as it doesn't dry out my hands.

I have a LaCie harddrive. I do edit video, but not professionally. I've found it reliable as it has not crashed within 6 mos. It is a bit slow, but I also just edit on my laptop and don't have a super fast processor for dedicated video editing. If you are a more casual video editor, it might be a way to go.

I had to change my diet last year when I found out I had food allergies. I really missed eating pizza, and gluten-free pizza is hard to come by at a lot of restaurants, so I started making my own. This book helped! And it is DELICIOUS!

I went with a mechanical scale as I thought it might last longer than a digital option. This measures up to 22 lbs, which is more than I need for cooking in my kitchen, especially as half the time I'm cooking for little old me.

Cotton towels will shrink over time, but if you look for "micro-cotton" or "hydro-cotton" towels, they usually last longer than basic cotton.

You always want to err on the side of cotton vs linen. While linen can look so pretty hanging in your kitchen, I find it won't do the absorbing job that cotton does.

My sister just had a baby and I have been helping her give baths in the Primo Eurobath. It's super easy to use, and has two different seating positions depending on how antsy the baby is. We use it inside the regular tub as it is too big for the kitchen sink. On the plus size, it will accomodate her baby as he grows.

My Nine West pumps have gotten me through two weddings. If you need something more pump style than wedge style, definitely consider a wider heel. I think that's how I make it through with these, the heel is at least 1/2 an inch.

Made a switch to all organic products last year and this one actually works! I figure the head is not that far from the brain, and I already dye my hair, why not avoid as many other chemicals as possible.

Mmmm! Delish. Summer time definitely calls for homemade ice cream. This maker is pretty easy to use and has easy clean-up. Cuiisinart also has a smaller model for $49.95, but I pretty much only make ice cream for parties, so I bought this bigger one. If you want the process to go faster though, you should pre-freeze the bowl in your own freezer.

I invested in this b/c I had jaw surgery and I couldn't eat solid food. It comes with a 7 YEAR WARRANTY! That's a long time for a blender. So far, it's never broken, or even stopped. I don't use it as much as used to now though because I can eat solid food again. Ha!

You want to look for a high energy star rating. If you're replacing an older model, or an unrated model, and Energy Star fridge could slash your power bill for savings of hundreds over the year.

If you don't need multiple lines, I recommend this phone for range. Great tones for long range, but hard to find that plus a really long talk time. You can only talk around 1 hr on here before charging again.

Designed specifically for a small space... invest in some bright throw pillows and blankets you can continuously change the look of this neutral couch with fun colors. Its a nice price too, so you'll have money left over for accents.

I really love my gladiator sandals. This trend seemed to start about two years ago, and I'm so glad they're still in because they're so comfy, and look great with a pair of shorts. Hallejah, summer is here!

You could do a combo of classic vintage dresses in the same color scheme... easy on the pocket book, and nice complimentary variation. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding like this and I was so grateful to get to have such a special dress.

The convertible with the best gas mileage is the Smart ForTwo Passion Cabriolet. The ForTwo is also the smallest new convertible on the market. Keep in mind it is a two seater and gets 33/41 mpg city/highway. Nice for city driving. My mom had a mini for awhile and that really is a fun car. Great gas mileage ratings (28/35 with a manual transmission). I think the minis are SO cute.

This Hampton Forge set is pretty great value for money. You can always trade out a few pieces for some higher quality pots and pans but if you are truly just starting out, this is a good place to begin.

This printer comes with great and easy-to-use software for photo editing. If you love photo projects, I can't recommend this printer enough. That said, this printer really is the best for printing photos and if you are seeking a multi-function printer, you may want to look at printers designated for multi-function options.

If you do want a rolling option from room to room I have one of these guys. I cool down one room, and move it to the next. Works great, and is more environmentally friendly than an AC unit.

I a a big fan of St. Ives. If you are fighting every day dirt and oils that can cause acne, I can't recommend St. Ives enough. You should still combine with a gentle moisturizer for best results.

Nancy Atherton's books are characterized by romance, light-heartedness recipes and great mysteries. Set in a small town, I find the books charming, and page turning. They are fantastic for a fun summer read.

I am big fan of Carl Hiaasen. He's Florida spunk and flair is evident in all his cooky crime stories. While only a few of his novels are considered a series, he's an addicting writer and once you've read one of his books you will want to read another. If you are talking TV, how can you go wrong with Murder She Wrote?

I bought these Bally Derbys for my boyfriend and he looks sharp in them, and he loves how they feel. I like how they can go from day to night. From work to club. Buy a neutral and color and then you can wear them with anything.

Oreck offers a hypoallergenic filtration system. You do have to choose this option when you purchase. I have an Oreck and what I like most about it is that it is super light weight and it vacuums pretty much everything.
