The are a lot of things that make up a great gaming TV. You want to look at things like the refresh rate, the screen size, audio, 720p vs 1080p, etc. The nice thing is that the TV market has become much more friendly to the customer. There are a lot of options out there, even if you are on a budget.
This is one of the best deals I have come across that is well within your price range. You can get it for $650 at Amazon. I know you can always go bigger on the display, but 40 inches should be large enough to get a good experience out of any game. I would rather have a smaller display with a better hardware setup. On top of an LED HD(1080p) display there is 120HZ refresh rate. All of these things together make this a top notch display for any gaming console.
The overall design is another big plus. It would be very easy to mount on the wall and would look great with just about any interior design scheme. There are plenty of connection possibilities, which gives you a ton of space for gaming systems as well as entertainment options.
The only downside I can find is that it is not wireless capable. You can hardwire it(Via Ethernet Cable) to your home network which would make this a good TV for a hometheater media setup, but it will take a little extra work to do that. In my opinion I prefer to hard wire my TV in to my network anyway. I get a more consistant signal.

There is a lot to Sharepoint, so in my opinion there is not one thing that will teach you everything you need to know. It is probably going to take a mixture of resources to get a strong understanding of it. There are a lot of free resources out there. These come mostly in the form of written articles and youtube tutorials.
If you are looking for a good book for beginners than you might like this one. It breaks things down and makes them very simple. Along with a lot of good information it also has a ton of exercises to work through. This book is not the most advanced out there, but it is a good starting point. It might make the more difficult books a little easier to understand. At the end of the day you just have to dive in. Hope this helps.

I know that there are a lot of great options out there, but I feel like one of your best bets is the Macbook Pro. You would even be able to upgrade to the 750GB Hard Drive and still be under your budget. In my opinion Mac favors the creative industry, which make this a great option.
The first thing you might like is the fact that it has iMovie preinstalled. This is by no means the best editing software out there, but it will give you a good starting point. It will give you a good understanding of what you want before you spend the money to upgrade your editing software.
As far as processing power, the Pro should have no problem handling even the more power intensive programs like final cut. The Intel Core i7 CPU is complimented by 4GB of RAM(With Room up to 8GB, which would probably be a smart upgrade) and a 750GB Hard Drive.
A few other things you might like is the 1440x900 Native Resolution display. There is also a Thunderbolt bolt which makes storing your projects on external devices a quick and clean process. Finally the above average battery life is a huge plus for when you have to take your work to the client or work off site.

In my personal opinion, I would defiantly say that your 8 year old is ready for a real laptop, especially if you want something for them to grow into. With that being said they will still need a lot of guidance and supervision, which will protect your investment as well as give your child a better understanding of just how powerful the technology they are using is.
With that being said I think there are a lot of options within your budget. I think something like this Toshiba would work great. It has a Intel Core i5 CPU and 4GB of RAM which should have no problem handling the games/software that interest your child. I wish it had room to expand the RAM, but 4GB should last a few years without any problems.
I don't think you will want to go with anything larger than 13.3". This size will make it much easier for you child to handle, which means less drops. It also only weighs 3.2 pounds which is a huge plus. The overall design seems functional as well as sturdy.
All and all this is a great value as well as a good general use laptop(Web Surfing, Simple Games, etc.)

Seagate puts out a pretty decent product. It is nice because it is plug and play and it is really easy to use. You just drop files into the desktop shortcut. It is a small size, which makes it very portable and it run quietly. Overall I can't really find much to complain about. This is a good product for a good price.

We bought our wii for our kids, so I really didn't even look into buying any games, but then I came across Resident Evil 4. It is a lot of fun. The gameplay and graphics are much better than expected. I know it has been out for a while now, but if you haven't played it yet, than it is defiantly worth picking up.

I am only through the first stages of Dirt 3, but I can already tell that Dirt 3 is a great game. The simulation is very realistic and the graphics/sound are top notch. If you have any kind of interest in rally racing than I find it hard to believe that you will not love this game. I will warn that it is a little challenging at first, but once you get a feel for the controls and tracks than you can really start adding up points. All and all a great game that is at least worth a rent if not a purchase.

I think Angela is on the right track...there are a lot of variables that go into proper pruning advice. I attached a link that I used to get started when I was asking similar questions to yours. I am by no means a gardner, but I like to keep a nice curb appeal to my house. Garden pruning is a funny subject, because it seems like it should be really easy, but it is actually fairly complicated. Yeah it is easy to go chop chop, but it is really important to keep the health of your plat in mind. Hope the link helps. Good Luck.

We have a couple of boys and between soccer, baseball, and football there are always bruises. My wife starting using Arnica a while back and it really seems to help. Here is a good page that goes into the details of why it works.
http://www.arnica.com/?tag=bruising
I think a lot of the results depends on the severity of the bruise as well as the ability of the individual to heal quickly. I think this is one of those things that might not work for every body, but I don't think that it hurts to try. Hope this helps.

I agree with a lot of what Sean said. I am not sure what your budget is or what your main uses will be, but there are better options out there. If you are trying to keep it under 300 than I will defiantly give it a few more weeks and see what the verdict is on the Kindle Fire. If you don't mind going higher than you might want to checkout the Samsung Galaxy Tablet. My roommate has one of these and it might be second to the iPad, but it is still a good tablet. With all that being said I think there is still value in the Dell Streak. From what I found while doing my own research is that it serves a lot of basic needs(Ease of use, games, media, and web browsing.) It seems like a good tablet for the price, but I think you will be disappointed in the functionality, especially if you are comparing it to higher end tablets. I guess the major deal breaker for me was the screen resolution and the battery life. I wanted a tablet for travelling, the size makes it very mobile, but I couldn't justify spending the money on something with such poor battery life.

Hands down NCAA. This years madden is horrible. I am not sure how they can make NCAA great, but than botch Madden. I guess that is something EA sports needs to figure out. NCAA is all around(Including Online play) is better. The only thing that annoys me is that the rosters have to be made up, but I think there are ways to get them updated for free.

I will start with the bad first. The graphics are not all that impressive. I don't want to say that they were bad, but they defiantly could have been better. As far as game play goes it was fantastic. I am a big fan of action RPGS, so needless to say Deus Ex is right up my alley. It requires a lot of thinking and has a great balance of combat, stealth, and hacking.

Another option is to use your iPhone / iPod Touch / iPad. I don't have personal experience with this, but this is what my friend does. There are quite a few media center apps out there, so you will just have to find the one that does what you need it to. This website has a pretty good breakdown of apps. It is at least a good place to start.
http://www.macworld.com/appguide/search.html?sort=...
The only thing I will say is that his is delayed a bit. I think he has one of the free ones though so I am sure there are some with really good quality out there.

This isn't a score App, I use ScoreCenter for that, but NBC sports talk is another free app that is awesome. It is more of a news and analysis app, which is nice because you can customize it to send you stories that you want to keep tabs on. This is nice especially if you don't have times or don't want to look through all of the general sports topics of the day. I use this for virtually all of my sports news.

I know everyone will send flowers, but you can't go wrong with flowers. They will appreciate the thought and enjoy them while they are getting better. A nice card can make something like this very sentimental.

This is the one I have and I really like it. It has a lot of things going for it. There is virtually no noise pollution. The add ons are really easy to use and setup is simple, which makes it nice for any home network. The only thing I do not like is the color. I would rather have a gray or a black. All and all this is a great device that is worth a lot more than it cost. I don't see how you could be disappointed with with this purchase.

My kids and I really like Mario Sports Mix. It is a fun game that is everything you would expect from a Mario themed game. It has great cooperative modes that are fun for the whole family. The only thing that I do not like is that there are only four sports. I feel like the amount you pay is worth more than 4 sports. The graphics are typical wii graphics and the game play is simple enough for younger kids. All and all a good game. I don't see how you could be disappointed.

I have one and I like it a lot. It is great for travel, but the only downside I have came across is that there is no DVD drive so all of your movies have to either be paid for on iTunes or ripped some other way. This can be annoying if you have a new movie you don't have time to rip it, but at the same time it keeps you from carrying a booklet of DVDs with you.

I paid my 30 dollars and I now have the king of the jungle running my system, but I can't really think of anything that makes the upgrade necessary. I didn't really notice any major changes. I think they fixed a bunch of little things rather than fixing anything major.

This keyboard has a lot of things going for it. I will start with the bad. There is no keypad, so if you are planning on inputting a lot of numbers I would look else where. The mouse track pad is a little small, but it still works. I love having a keyboard and a mouse in one. This saves me a ton of space, which is nice because I do not have a lot of room to work with. All and all it does everything you would expect it to do. It is easy to use and the battery life is pretty good. I really do not have a lot to complain about.

This is the one I use and it works really good. I have a lot more control over how my computer is running, which means that I can get the most out of it. It is also good to have the stats when you are trying to upgrade or change hardware out. It has helped me on several occasions solve voltage issues.

I will start with the bad. This set of pans is expensive, but I personally think that it is worth it.
I am a huge fan of how long stainless steel pans last. This set in particular comes with everything you need for the average family. We have had to borrow pans when we cook for our extended family, but if you are just looking for something that will work for 1-6 people than I do not think you will need anything more than this. I was a little concerned about the metal handles, but in most cases I don't even need to use a glove. It gets warm, but it doesn't make the pan unusable. And finally the best part, they are dishwater safe, so my least favorite part(Cleanup) is a little more bearable. I know they are expensive, but I would at least check them out if I were you.

First off there is no inexpensive way to make the transition. If you are just experimenting it might be a good idea to buy a used MacBook or set up your current PC to run dual operating systems. I would only make the switch if you are planning on taking advantage of the things that Mac offers. There is no point in switching if you are just doing it for the name.

Everyone is different so I can only tell you what I really think about Windows 7. I upgraded and then decided to go back to XP. The security still wasn't where I would like to be. I really do not understand. It is a huge problem that Microsoft continues to put completely on the shoulders of the user. The problem is that the average user does not protect themselves like they should. This leaves most windows 7 users very vulnerable.
The user interface is well designed, but I do not think it is worth the money to upgrade. I defiantly think that Windows 7 is better than Vista, but I am not able to sit here and tell you to upgrade from the security of XP.

This is a really good card in my opinion. Keep in mind that it is not a 5 port card it actually has 4 external ports and one internal port. So I guess it is a 5 port card, but there are only 4 external ports. It was a little tricky to install, but I eventually got it figured out. I am not a hardware expert, so I am sure it will be easy for any one that has hardware experience. Once installed it has not had any problems. It is very functional and seems to be well built.

This is probably what your computer has already, but if you upgrade your fan or you heat sync then you might find your computer running at a more desirable temperature. It is called Active Air Cooling and it essentially uses air, pushed by the fan, to keep the heat sync cool. I think that you will find that this will be one of the most cost effective way to keep your computer from overheating. The only problems is that your fan and your heat sync need to stay clean to be effective, so there is some upkeep involved.

This is a good question. I checked it out on Amazon and I think there is only a 10 dollar difference between the two SSD. I personally would recommend spending the extra money and buying the the 500GB version. It is only 10 dollars and if you are going to tear your computer apart to install it then you might as well have something that is going to last you for a while.

It sounds like you might need a racing game. You should give Dirt 2 a shot. My kids and I play this thing for hours. The graphics and the game play is awesome. I would highly recommend getting a wheel if it is in your budget. The right setup will make you forget all about those other games. Actually Dirt 3 is out too, but I have heard there were some wheel compatibility issues so we have stuck with dirt 2 for now.

This is a good question that has many answers even though there are only two choices. I own both consoles and they both have a ton of advantages, but if I have to chose a side then I am going to go with the Xbox 360. I could go into the nuts and bolts of each machine, but at the end of the day I just like the feel of the 360 controller better. I know it is ridiculous but that is the deciding factor for me.

I am going to have to vote on the side of the Droid X even though I don't think that you will be disappointed with either of these phones. As far as hardware and software I would say that they are very comparable, but I found a few upsides to the Droid X that I liked.
First, it has flash support. Make sure you have the Android 2.2 operating system installed.
Second, It has additional storage options that can be removed(mircoSD card)
Third, It has better noise canceling capabilities, which is nice if you live in the city or you talk in the car a lot.
Forth, It has a better battery life. I have had both and I can defiantly tell a difference.
Fifth, I personally think that the Android operating system is no more difficult to use than the Mac OS.
I am not an Apple hater or a technological genius. I am just telling you what I noticed after using both of these phones.
|
|
|
|
|
I think this is basically what everyone else is getting at, but I am afraid they may have overloaded it. I would rather have something cheaper with less features. I feel like it is going to take a really special user to fully utilize everything. I don't need it to have a camera because my phone has a camera. I don't need GPS because my phone has it. I feel like this list could go on and on.

The is the cab that I use. I play in a small blues trio and we usually play really small venues, needless to say I don't need a ton of power. This has 400W handling, which still pack a pretty good punch, especially when you consider this price range. I was more impressed with the deep tones that this cab offers. I would even venture to say that the sound quality is just a touch above average. It is fairly easy to transport and the sound quality is clear. I really can't ask for much more in a low end cab.
|
|
|

|
This card has a lot of stuff going for it. It runs very cool and is almost unnoticeable as far as noise pollution. The performance is awesome on a 1080p monitor and it has a pretty low power requirement for a card with this kind of performance. My only complaint is that It takes up quite a bit of room. It would be nice if it was smaller. If you have the room and the cash I would defiantly give this card a look.
