This is barely over your price point but well worth the money. Miele makes probably one of the best vacuums you can buy. It has a HEPA filtration system and a ridiculous 1200 watt Vortex Motor. That would probably suck the toes right off your foot, so be careful.....
Also worth noting is the incredible expected lifespan of 20 years! They say that 20 years is pretty standard with these things.
It is expensive, but if you can afford it now it will certainly pay for itself in a few years. Also, having that HEPA filter is incredibly valuable to your health... I think this is a smart purchase.

It's small and inexpensive, no reason to spend more than this if you just need a simple coffee maker. I have a small Mr. Coffee very similar to this one and I am very pleased with it. It just works, every time. It has a removable filter basket for easy cleaning, and also a little water window so you can see exactly how much water is in there.
If you just need t make a small amount of coffee, this is your guy!

I pretty much hear nothing but good things about those. Especially for $50 I think it's a great purchase. I don't really think you'll find anything better at that price.
Get 'em!

It has a beautiful stainless steel exterior, so much power and is a good medium size. I love the simple display and I REALLY love that stainless! Should cook very fast and evenly.

Hey there Frank,
These are designed for small business use and I think it's your best option. I think it's a good price for what it can do. Lot's of features that are great for small business use:
~it's jam proof (and that feature actually works)
~has a 9-gallon pull-out bin for easy empty
~fairly quiet operation
~cross cut action is very secure
~25 minute max run time is very good
~17 sheet capacity is also very good!
~cuts other stuff like staples, DVDs, etc
Definitely good for your purposes. Worth a look for sue!

If I were you I would check out this Logitech trackball. These are great, and I am sure it would be quite gentle on your wrist. It is wireless, has 2 buttons plus some navigation buttons.
Make sure you give yourself a little time to get used to the trackball... might be awkward at first but ou'll get the hang of it!

This is like one of the best mice around. It has laser tracking, plenty of programmable buttons (13, to be exact), and it actually also has full speed wireless. A fine piece of gaming equipment.

Here is one for under $50 that is compatible with ipad and android devices. It's sleek and compact, great for travel. Gets pretty solid reviews on the internet. I think for under $50 it's an excellent choice.

I think you should go for a standard style keyboard such as this one from Logitech. These are great for typing a lot... the keys are laid out right and have great action. Thin, sleek, solid, nice feel ....effective.

Hi Seth! This appears to be the right one for you. Only $25.

Well I think we would need more info in order to really help you with this one... like what type of computer? If it's a laptop I could suggest something as simple as this, but really can't help very much without more info!

This is a great photo printer from HP, actually great all the way around. For scanning, high end printers (like this one) should have a 48-bit color depth. The 8500A does, and it also has a very high optical resolution of 4800x4800 dpi, which is one of the best I've seen among the all-in-one printers.
Your scans will appear vibrant, clear and colorful!

This continually comes up as one of the best personal use printers For only $100 it's an absolute steal. It's an all in one and has excellent image quality.
Its 9600 x 2400 color dpi print resolution is extremely high considering the price, and you can be confident that all of your prints, be it text or photos, will be of utmost quality.
If I were to buy myself a printer today it would definitely be this one.

Here is a great monitor for you in your price range. These are totally compatible with Macs and are just a fab deal for a quality monitor.
You'll get a sleek looking LED monitor with 1920x1080 full HD resolution. The LED backlighting saves a bunch on energy costs.
I think overall it's an excellent monitor for the price. Sure, there are better monitors out there, but not for such a low price!

I highly suggest these, and for a couple of reasons. Of course the main reason is brand name.... it's no secret that Sennheiser makes a hell of a product. Sound quality will be equally good in your headphones and through the mic for the person on the other end.
The other reason I recommend them is the lightweight, sleek design. For voice chat you want something simple that stays out of the way. Something comfortable and easy. These are perfect. Very light, small frame, but effective.

You could try this one. It's not cheap, but it's not ridiculously expensive either. I have heard these have a good cost vs. performance ratio. You get a lot of performance for the price.

Alright! Thanks for all the suggestions!

Hi Jerry,
I think you should really consider a Powershot. It shoots 1080p full HD video and includes a host of features:
shoot in various formats like Full HD, VGA, QVGA
Super Slow Motion Movie
Zoom optically while shooting video
Big LCD screen helps you see the action
These are great cameras!
|
|
|
|
|
You ever tried these? They are amazing. They have ultra soft pads that sit right on your ears, not around them. It's actually more comfortable than an earcup, in my opinion. The foam material used is very soft and just like floats there on your ears.
They are also very high quality in terms of sound. High dynamic range and very clear, accurate sound reproduction.
|
|
|
|
|
This is a great set from Sony. They look really nice, too.
The fit on your ear, and are the closed-type headphones with decently sized 30mm drivers. They are light and comfy and should pump some seriously sweet tones into your brain.
|
|
|
|
|
I think these would be a nice option for you. I know they are more of a sports fit, but really all that means is that they will be sweat proof and pretty durable.
Being from Philips ensures high audio quality. It ha a mic and control unit so you can talk, listen, and control your iPod, iPhone, or iPad remotely.

These look like they would be a good choice, Annie! They fold up into a little hard shell case that would be perfect for travelling. They do active noise canceling, which they claim will reduce ambient noise by 95%. That should cover up the roar of those jet engines! Also for the plane they have a dual-plug adapter.
With a wide frequency response of 30 - 20000 Hz they should provide big, rich tones.
Remember, they do require 2 AAA batteries for the noise-canceling function!

Are you looking for a drawing tablet like this or regular tablet with a drawing app or something? If your main concern is drawing you may want to look into a Wacom drawing tablet. These are pretty great drawing tools. It allows you to easily edit photos and create digital artwork with a natural pen-like stylus.
It has 2048 levels of pen pressure sensitivity to capture every nuance of your pen pressure.
You can really do a lot of cool stuff on here... you should look into it!
|
|
|
|
|
Does it provide better picture quality or really make sports scenes smoother? Well the answer is yes to this part of your question. You probly already know this, but refresh rate is basically how many times the picture is redrawn on the screen. Higher refresh rates absolutely make sports and high speed video games more fluid and less blurry. The thing is, you may not be able to tell the difference unless you are looking at two TV sets side by side. I would recommend going to Costco or something and seeing the difference for yourself.
Is 120hz worth the price difference over 60hz? Totally up to you... like I said, the best way to decide is to compare the two, and see if you think it's worth the extra dough.

My vote would be iPhone 4. I have one, it's freaking awesome. They're kind of expensive but man they are amazing phones! Calling is easy, sound clarity is great, touchscreen is easy to use, I get reception almost anywhere, it looks cool, and you can get like a bajillion and one apps on it. I literally have zero complaints. Great phone.

Ok, I'm not going to say this thing is super high quality or anything because it's ust one of those snap on covers... but it is pretty cool looking and seems to fit your description!

Here's an excellent game for you and your workout needs! This game is a serious workout, and is now available for a very reasonable price. It has some great features that come with it that make it not only fun, but a comprehensive workout system.
With the bundle you get a heart rate monitor, specially designed wireless transmitters that strap right on to your leg, and wireless full body motion tracking (with the Natal Motion Camera that tracks full body movement) for accurate readings of your workout. You can then put your routines online and track your progress.
There are over 70 activities and workouts to choose from, so you won't get bored!

This is really tough. These "waterproof" cameras tend to be only somewhat waterproof most of the time! Some reviewers say it is completely waterproof, while others say it leaks.... who to trust? Well, many waterproof devices seem to have this problem, so I usually try to find the one with the least amount of reviews saying it's not waterproof. I have faith in this one by Sanyo. Some people did experience leakage, but most said it worked very well and even captured some decent video.
It's not the highest quality camcorder ever. It shoots 640x480 resolution and 8 mp stills. You can take pics or film underwater, and it even has a little 2.5 inch LCD screen. It also has some zoom capabilities... look at the link I provided if you want to know more I guess.

Logitech is always my go-to brand for this sort of thing. Any sort of accessory that I want for a reasonable price, I always think Logitech. They make reliable, high performance stuff! Like everything I've ever used from them just works!
This is a great controller. Familiar shape, comfortable in your hands.... it even rumbles.
One hing that might discourage you, but I want to point it out anyways - the D Pad has no central pivot point, so you can actually push all directions at once, if you're not used to it. To me it's not a big deal, but I understand that some people do not like this and want to look elsewhere.
Good controller though!

Like Becca said, you already have a nice little lens line up! Trying to think of something a little different here.... but yeah I think the Sigma 30mm would be an excellent choice.
Here's another good possibility for ya. It's an excellent wide angle lens for a great price. Canon's similar lens (EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM lens) is priced around $700, so going with Sigma is a good idea - they make a good lens.

I personally like Pro Tools, but that's probably because I am used to it and learned on it! There are a few things worth pointing out about Pro Tools 9.
First of all, I don't know if you have used Pro Tools before, but it is a professional editing program and you can create just about anything you could ever imagine on it. Very high quality.
Next, it works similarly to Garage Band.... meaning it is laid out in a similar way. If you are already familiar with Garage Band it is easy to make the switch.... except Pro Tools is way more complicated. But it's the same type format.
And lastly, with Pro Tools 9 you can use any interface you want! Very cool because in the past it was only compatible with M audio.
This is a great program that you should def check out!

Depending on how much time you have you could buy a book like this. It has a bunch of pictures and diagrams that would really help you. Go to a used book store nearby if you don't have time to ship one.

I think there are quite a few nice possibilities for you... including Asus' Zenbook and the Acer Ultra Book. The reason I sugest Air is simply reputation. It always has raving reviews no matter where you look, and almost no one experiences problems with them. This being said, I don't know what sort of use you are looking to get out of it, but for general use and for stuff that's not too intense (hardcore gaming, serious video editing, software development, etc) it will be excellent.
These things are really tough and have outstanding battery life (like 9, 10 hours). They also only weigh 2.4 lbs and are compact and thin.
The only thing it does not offer is an optical drive, and I understand this may be a deal breaker... just remember you can always buy an external one if you need!
|
|
|
|
|
I would definitely suggest an Air. Perfect travel companion. It's really small and lightweight with its 11 inch screen and 2.4 pounds, but not so small that it's annoying. It has amazing battery life, upwards of 8, 9 hours. That is some of the best battery life you will find. It is fast and fairly powerful, and certainly capable of word processing... also a good multi-tasker. Full keyboard and everything.
You will of course need the internet to blog, and Air is a capable net browser for sure. No issues there.
Also, you might be taking some pics when you're out and about, and this thing comes with iPhoto, so you can dump all you pics right on there and then immediately onto your blog, assuming that's what you do.
This will be an excellent investment for you... an investment in your future.

Excellent general use laptop in your price range. Look no further! Toshiba is cool. besides about 6 hours battery life, which is pretty good, here are some other internal highlights for this guy:
Intel Core i7 processor, at 2.2 GHz and 3.1 GHz with Turbo Boost
6GB DDR3 1333MHz (upgrade to 8 if you wanna)
750GB serial ATA hard drive
15.6 inch widescreen TFT display at 1366 x 768 resolution (HD)
This will be more than adequate for general use. This will be a good purchase for you!
|
|
|
|
|
You would probably be very happy with this Toshiba! They make great laptops. This one has some serious power, especially when you consider the price. It also looks fancy with its platinum finish.
You can see all its specs on the link if you want, but here are the highlights: 6GB DDR3 which is upgradable to 8, a 750GB (5400 RPM) serial ATA hard drive, and the super fast (and efficient multi tasker) Intel Core i7 processor 2.2 GHz... 3.1 GHz with Turbo Boost. Good stuff inside... it certainly won't be slowing you down. You can easily browse the web super fast, take notes, make presentations, and entertain yourself on this machine.
So to answer your question... Yes! you can get a good laptop for college for under $1100!
|
|
|
|
|
Best for your money...I would say this is a good contender.
The Toshiba Portege. It's a little guy, at 13.3", but really that's a decent sized screen, and is very portable at this size. You get a 640 ata hard drive and 4 gb RAM (ddr3). You will also get some amazing battery life.
It has that Sandy Bridge processor, which is fast and excellent for multitasking.
This is a great value computer, no question. Check out the link if you like what you see, cuz there's a whole host of other features.

I feel like I've seen this TV suggested a few times on this site... must mean it's a good one! I think you will get an incredible 3D viewing experience on this thing. I mean a 1080p 50 inch plasma with 600Hz is going to look fantastic, especially from a good company like Panasonic. You will get extremely sharp images and vivid colors.
For 3D you will need something that can play 3D content and some 3D media, either movies or a 3D tv subscription online, or whatever.
Unfortunately you wil have to go buy yourself some 3D glasses, as they are not included. But do it! it will be worth it.
Also, it's internet ready, s o you can enjoy thousands of your favorite titles instantaneously.
|
|
|
|
|
I'll go ahead and suggest this Samsung, even though it's an inch over size! You'll be able to find it for $700, maybe few dollars over.
This is a great set up. You got your 1080p full HD resolution for image quality. You got 120Hz refresh rate, so motion blur won't be an issue. The TV itself looks very pretty, as Samsungs usually do.
For your gaming needs, it has "Game Mode" in which you TV turns off much of the picture processing for a faster video response. (you don't lose anything, just get faster response time) So it's good to buy a tv that you know they thought about gaming when they built it.
