RHINO SURFACE MODELING
1/2 DAY • $99
This course starts with a brief overview of Rhino's interface & command line, then moves toward building surface geometry using a variety of techniques, including: edge surface, pipe, revolve, loft, patch and sweep. You'll then work on some boolean operations, including: difference, intersection and union. Finally, you'll look at methods of manipulating surface geometry with control points.
|
| |
After this course you will be able to: |
- execute commands using icons, menus and command line
- build surface geometry scaffolding using point, lines, polylines and splines
- create a variety of surface types in a variety of ways
- manipulate surface orientation, scale and form

RHINO WORKFLOWS FOR FABRICATION DRAWINGS
1/2 DAY • $99
This course focuses on ways to construct, manipulate and disassemble complex geometry (compound curved surfaces) using countouring, flowing and unrolling. You will gain a working knowledge of how to extract 2d fabrication information from a 3d model, and how to use that data to physically rebuild the digital model at a variety of scales. |
| After this course you will be able to: |
| |
- describe complex forms using geometry
- apply curved and orthographic line drawings to 3d surfaces
- create sectional geometry for rebuilding complex forms

RHINO PREPARATION for 3D PRINTING and LASER CUTTING
1/2 DAY • $99
This course focuses on the general logic of computer numerically controlled (CNC) prototyping machines, including additive and subtractive processes. Actual 'machine-ready' files will be created and used as a platform for comparing the pros and cons of each method. |
| After this course you will be able to: |
| |
- clarify what digital fabrication is, and why it's useful
- understand geometrical constraints for 3d printing
- understand geometrical constraints for laser cutting

RHINO: MASS CUSTOMIZATION
1/2 DAY • $99
This course starts with a discussion on how to construct a design algorithm. The required framework foor producing a series of similar, yet unique objects will be introduced. The primary elements of VB Script will be explored, including: variables, arrays, conditions, loops and functions. You'll finish with a RhinoScript that will generate a field of continuously differentiated objects. |
| After this course you will be able to: |
| |
- have a basic knowledge of algorithmic design
- have a familiarity with the building blocks of scripting
- write a script that generates mass customized objects

RHINO: ANIMATE FORM
1/2 DAY • $99
This course focuses on a work flow for generating, exploring and studying a broad collection of potential design solutions. By animating the parameters that control 3d geometry, you will be able to view a series of iterations in continuous motion. The primary elements of VB Script will be explored, including: variables, arrays, conditions, loops and functions. You will finish with a RhinoScript that will perform geometric transformations on the one hand, and will produce the requisite image frames for animation on the other. |
| |
After this course you will be able to: |
| |
- have a familiarity with the building blocks of scripting
- develop a process and write a script for visualizing geometry
in flux
- render each parametric variation, and create an animation

RHINO: PARAMETRIC ATTRACTORS with GRASSHOPPER PLUG-IN
1/2 DAY • $99
This course starts with a short intro to parametric modeling, looking at Grasshopper's interface, object structure and its relationship to Rhino. You'll establish a series of associative relations between a point attractor and a field of similarly constrained objects. |
| After this course you will be able to: |
| |
- have a familiarity with Grasshopper's interface and object structure
- understand the workflow between Rhino and Grasshopper
- set up a parametric attractor that allows for dynamic interaction
|

RHINO SURFACE POPULATION using the GRASSHOPPER PLUG-IN
1/2 DAY • $99
This course starts with an intro to parametric modeling, and Grasshopper's interface and relationship to Rhino. You will construct a surface and a series of units that range in complexity in Rhino. You will then create a graphic algorithm for mapping each unit onto the surface, populating the surface with many units. |
| After this course you will be able to: |
| |
- be familiar with Grasshopper's interface and object structure
- understand the workflow between Rhino and Grasshopper
- maximize workflow efficiency in populating a surface with a unit
